Like a hammer, videography is a tool and it's all about how it's used. A tool with such power can manipulate and proselytize; but if an open-minded critical-thinker is behind the camera, a video can be a powerful force of inspiration for good. That's why I've always been drawn to documentaries. It's a tool that allows subjective truth and story to flourish, without the restrictions and tropes of classic cinema. Beyond the creativity of the filmmaker, documentaries allow real people to be a force of inspiration using their own stories. They are participants in the filmmaking, just as much as me, the producer.
